Conference city
Cluj-Napoca is one of the most active cities
in Romania from a scientific and cultural perspective. Located
in the Northwestern region of the country, the city was first attested during
the Roman occupation of Dacia, in 106 A.D. Since the middle of the 16th
century, it became the main commercial center of Transylvania and
one of the most important hubs in Eastern Europe. Nowadays, 400.000 people call
this city home.
Having a strong multi-cultural nature, Cluj-Napoca is inhabited by Romanians,
Hungarians, Germans, Jews and others. As this makeup enables the exchange of
ideas, higher education naturally developed during the last century, becoming
one of the major strengths of Cluj-Napoca. The city is a major university
center of Romania, hosting six important higher education institutions, with
over 100.000 students. A brief video presentation of the city is included
below.
